TRAVEL DIARIES

Our Irish Adventure

Our first day in Dublin began with a visit, In the garden of Helen Dillon, we were served tea and biscuits.

Past Dublin doors we gals did walk, To the Brazen Head Pub - just round the block!

Johnny spoke of Ireland, long long ago, In a candle lit room that was all aglow.

Up the next morn, we all set out, "To Ballyknocken House" the girls did shout!

In aprons and caps, Lynne and Marlene looked about, "We never cook! Can you help us out?"

Catherine took the stage and began the lesson, Teaching "secrets of scones" in our morning session.

With Deidre as guide, we're in capable hands, Past hillsides and rock walls, she shows us the land.

Historic Waterford was our next stop, In the land of crystal- "Be sure not to drop."

Our arrival at Blarney was met with great glee, Stopping for lunch, we made time for tea.

A few brave gals made the climb that day. We followed our leader, Sue led the way.

Approaching the stone, she intended to kiss, Myrna leaned back, "Are you sure it's like this?"

Marlene and Elaine, knelt down too, They kissed the stone, so we'll give them their due.

The climbers and kissers headed back to the bus, Killarney awaits- an early dinner's a must!

Tom's at the wheel, as we drive down the road, On "N" roads and "ring roads" he's an expert I'm told.

Tralee is filled with music and song, Add dancing and Guinness, plus the odd leprechaun!

The lakes of Killarney will be the next stop, We gather the girls for our group photo-op.

In Killarney Park we talk to our "jarvey" Four girls in a cart that was driven by Harvey.

Spotting colourful shops in the town of Kenmare, We all headed off to find something to wear.

Muckross House was at the end of the day, Killarney Towers was where we did stay.

Heading on south through to old Dingle town, There was time for our lunch and a short walk around.

Music and laughter awaits us tonight, As Benny O' Carroll stands at the mike.

Muirue (Moira) tickled the ivories, as well all sang, Strains of Molly Mallone through the rafters, rang.

I reckon County Claire is where we'll be, For views of the cliffs that sweep down to the sea. (Cliffs of Moher)

Passing the homes of O'Malley and O' Hare, We gals pressed on to the town of Adare.

The town of Adare will make you smile, Ireland's "prettiest village" on the Emerald Isle.

Quaint thatched cottages line the street, For charm and beauty it's hard to beat.

Bunratty sees us in the banquet hall, Needless to say, we had a ball!

To Dunraven Arms for a breakfast and bed, The pillows look soft, as we lay down our head.

Up the next morn, we're off to Kilkenny Of tour days remaining, I'm afraid there aren't many.

Coming together for a farewell dinner, With stone walls and gas lights, this setting's a winner!

The Abbey Tavern is our chosen spot, With a blazing turf fire we'll enjoy it a lot.

As we all bid farewell and say thanks for the visit, We now know the difference between scones and a biscuit!
