TRAVEL DIARIES
A Poem About Peru - April 5-20, 2010
I’ll tell you about my trip to Peru
There I always learned something new
We first went to Lima by the ocean
It was here we started our magic weather potion
Then we travelled the muddy river to the jungle
Which was a lot of sweaty “fun”-gle
We met Juan Carlos and Elvis
They sure knew their business
From Maxine the tarantula with pink toes
Monkeys, piranhas and caiman put on quite a show
We heard a load rat who was trying to mate
And for delicious meals we couldn’t be late
More wooden steps I never want to climb
Although I’m sure it was good for my waistline
Over the beautiful Andes we flew
To Roberto’s home town of Cusco
For his busy city he had plenty of pride
But the Peruvian horses we did not ride
For all Mother Earth’s beauty the Inca’s were dedicated
The intricacies of the wall we sure appreciated
These clever builders were inspiring
However, climbing their many steps left us perspiring
Mystical sunrise over Machu Picchu
And at every turn an enchanting view
Thanks wise Peruvians for saving such a treasure
Giving all the world such viewing pleasure
We happily drank many pisco sours
And had several encounters with flooding showers
The game of Sapo required some skill
To get the high score gave us a thrill
The Peruvian economy is improving a lot
We thought we’d better help give it all we got
So….shopping here, shopping there
Spending money everywhere
As for Roberto he’s our man
In an instant he can change the plan
His kindness and patience know no end
He knows the best places for us to spend
Two week with twelve women is every man’s dream
Embrace the adventure is his theme!
