Boomer women take their turn at travel

NEW WOMEN'S HOLIDAY NETWORK OFFERS MORE THAN JUST TRAVEL

TORONTO , ON - JUNE 13, 2005 - After raising four children and always encouraging them to travel and live life to the fullest, entrepreneur Susan Pearson is taking her own advice. She has created Broad Horizons, an all-female travel network empowering women to tick travel off their lifelong to-do list.

"As a parent I've always encouraged my children to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself. While helping them prepare for various trips, I constantly found myself admiring their sense of adventure and that's when I decided it was finally time to practice what I had been preaching all these years."

With middle-aged women becoming increasingly interested in travel; the average adventure traveller is a 47 year-old female*; Pearson is tapping into a market who are more eager than ever before to have their chance at experiencing the world.

"I wanted to specifically target women who have dedicated their lives to improving the lives of those around them. Whether they've spent years raising children, managing their home or building a successful career, these are women who are now looking forward to realizing some of their own lifelong dreams."

Having recently returned from Broad Horizons' maiden voyage to the Emerald Isle, Pearson has been inundated with requests for the network's next trip locations.

"Women know what they want, and this network allows them to discuss with each other where they would like to go and what they want to experience next in the world. We then take that into consideration and plan a trip to cater to their desires," explains Pearson.

Broad Horizons trips don't end when the women return home; Pearson has developed a photo network and members phone book to allow travellers to revel long after the trip ends. In addition an online chat room is in the works so that travel buddies can stay connected and plan future trips together. For those women residing in the same cities, social evenings are organized before and after the trip to discuss what they will see, what they have seen and what they want to see next.

However, having a laugh with the ladies and meeting new people are not the only reasons to travel with Broad Horizons. Pearson advises that travelling with a female-focused group has many other key advantages, "Since men and women have very different priorities when it comes to travel, all of our trips have been designed with the independent female adventurer in mind."

Another benefit? Costs are significantly reduced with a roommate matching scheme, allowing the single supplement to be waived. The best safety standards are also upheld as all trips are escorted by professional tour operators and all hotels are of the highest quality.

Broad Horizons women won't want for choice either: Next season's itinerary sees the ladies discovering the Canadian Rockies from the comfort of a five-star, glass-domed train, sending their taste buds soaring aboard a Mediterranean culinary arts cruise and exploring the best of Europe-while giving their credit cards a workout-during a unique Christmas market tour during the festive season.
