Itinerary
Day 1: Saturday, October 13, 2012 – Budapest
Upon arrival in Budapest - the Pearl on the Danube River and Hungarian capital, we will be welcomed by our English speaking guide and transferred to our centrally located hotel. The remainder of the day will be at leisure to stroll through the quaint lanes and cobblestone of this ancient city.
This evening join your fellow BH travellers for a welcome dinner as we enjoy a traditional Hungarian feast, in a typical setting against a backdrop of wonderful gypsy music.

Day 2: Sunday, October 14, 2012 - Budapest
After breakfast at the hotel, join the group for a half day scenic tour of Budapest. Beginning at the Chain Bridge, we will pass by Parliament and drive over Margaret Bridge to the Buda side. Next, we drive to the Gellért Hill (Citadel) to see the most spectacular view of Budapest. We will see the largest European Synagogue, after which we drive to the City Park. We pass by Europe's largest thermal spa, the Budapest Zoo and the Amusement Park, and then stop at the Heroes' Square with statues of the most famous Hungarian Kings and Dukes. We take the Andrássy Avenue to downtown Pest, passing by the Opera House and the St Stephen's Basilica. We will visit the Castle District and during a short walk we will see the main attractions of the area. Walking to Matthias Church and to the Fishermen's Bastion where we will enjoy beautiful panoramic views. Afterwards we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant in the Castle District.
Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure for shopping or individual sightseeing - Anyone who loves shopping will enjoy a visit to Vaci Utca. The street starts from Vörösmarty Square, where it is pedestrianized and leads to the Great Market Hall (Nagycsamok) near Fővám Tér.

Day 3: Monday, October 15, 2012 - Budapest
After breakfast at the hotel we will visit Central Market Hall. Built at the end of the 19th century the three-storey building features stalls selling a variety of wares. We'll find fruit and vegetable vendors, supermarket, fishmongers, and vendors selling game meat. On the upper floor, beautiful Hungarian arts and crafts are the most common fare but you'll find some fast food stands there as well. Walk row by row and take your time to absorb the culturally rich atmosphere.
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure for individual activities. Dinner this evening will be at the hotel.

Day 4: Tuesday, October 16, 2012 - Budapest
Visit the former summer-residence of Queen Elisabeth (Sissi) and Francis Joseph in Godollo, one of the largest baroque palaces in the world. You will have a glimpse of the times under the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Afterwards we will take a break to enjoy coffee and cake in the Palace Cafe.
This evening we will enjoy a special dinner at Venhajo restaurant offering a beautiful view of the Danube River - located at the feet of the Chain Bridge onboard the 19th Century steamship Kossuth.

Day 5: Wednesday, October 17, 2012 - Budapest - Vienna
Today after breakfast we will say goodbye to Budapest and travel by coach to Vienna. En-route we will stop in Gyor - a historical Hungarian town, the most important centre north-west of Hungary with beautiful UNESCO Benedictine Abbey called Pannonhalma - one of the oldest historical monuments in Hungary founded in the year 996. We will enjoy a walking tour of Gyor and time at leisure. Later we will continue to Vienna to our centrally located hotel.
This evening we will gather together for a group dinner at Viennese oldest Inn - Griechenbeisl Restaurant open since 1447.

Day 6: Thursday, October 18, 2012 - Vienna
After breakfast at the hotel we will take part in a half day sightseeing tour highlighting the historical sites of Vienna - Along the Ringstrasse we will see numerous grand buildings, such as the State Opera House, Museum of Fine Arts with its world famous art treasures of the Habsburgs and the Natural History Museum, the Museums Quartier, the Hofburg (former Habsburg winter residence), Parliament, City Hall and the Burg theater. We drive past the Belvedere Palace which houses the largest Gustav Klimt collection in the world. The highlight of this tour will be a visit of the showrooms of Schönbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg family and home of Maria Theresia.
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore Vienna.
This evening we will have a festive dinner followed by Mozart concert at the Schoenbrunn Palace or at Kursalon.

Day 7: Friday, October 19, 2012 - Vienna
Enjoy a morning at leisure in Vienna. This afternoon we will travel to Vienna Woods, the tour shows you the most beautiful sights of the southern Vienna Woods. Passing the Roman City of Baden which is famous for its thermal springs, we drive through the romantic valley Helenental to the former Mayerling hunting lodge, (visit of memorial chapel), where Crown Prince Rudolph together with Baronesse Vetsera died tragically in 1889. In the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz (1133) we will visit the medieval cloister which houses the remains of the last Babenberger. We then pass the Höldrichsmühle and arrive at the Seegrotte. After a boat ride on the largest subterranean lake in Europe we will return to Vienna for dinner at the hotel.

Day 8: Saturday, October 20, 2012 - Vienna - Cesky Krumlov
Today we will drive from Vienna to Southern Bohemia arriving in Cesky Krumlov - a historical town reserve preserved by UNESCO, this small medieval town, almost unchanged since the 18th century, is one of the most picturesque in Europe. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant. During the afternoon we will visit the Krumlov Castle, the second largest fortification in the Czech Republic after Prague Castle and certainly one of the oldest. The most ancient part is the round tower dating from the second half of the 13th century. The whole complex was reconstructed in the 16th century in the Renaissance style. This evening we will enjoy a dinner at a typical middle-ages restaurant near the hotel.

Day 9: Sunday, October 21, 2012 Cesky Krumlov - Prague
This morning we will enjoy a walking tour of the picturesque centre of Cesky Krumlov. In the afternoon we will continue our journey to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. This ancient European city is renowned for its beauty and unique wealth of historical sights. Our home for the next three nights is the boutique Hotel Leonardo conveniently located in the Old Town. This evening we will celebrate our arrival in Prague with dinner at a local restaurant in the Old Town.

Day 10: Monday, October 22, 2012 - Prague
Today we will enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour of Prague passing the New and Old Town. We will see the National Museum, the State Opera House and the National Theatre, visiting the Prague Castle complex with highlights such as the famous St. Vitus Cathedral, Gothic Vladislav Hall, picturesque Golden Lane. We will walk through the famous Charles Bridge and walk in the Old Town of Prague ending at the Old Town Square with the historical astronomical clock, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure.
This evening we will enjoy a buffet dinner cruise on the Vltava River.

Day 11: Tuesday, October 23, 2012 - Prague
Enjoy a day at leisure in Prague, a city renowned for its beauty, unique wealth and historical sights. This evening we will gather to reminisce about our journey over a sumptuous farewell dinner with folklore show, music and traditional dance.

Day 12: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 - Depart
Our European journey comes to an end as we transfer to the airport for our trans-Atlantic flight home.
